Here is a fantastically simple recipe that makes a great party favor or hostess gift. It's quick and easy to make and looks gorgeous packed into small mason jars.
Sea salts can be infused with many different combinations of herbs and a variety of other sea salts. Grey Celtic Sea Salt or Pink Himalyan Salt both add gorgeous color and excellent flavor. But I've kept it simple here and chose one my favorite flavor (and scent) cominations: lavender and lemon.
Sprinkle these infused salts on pasta, fish, or warm buttered bread.
Lavender + Lemon Sea Salt
1 cup coarse sea salt
The zest of 2 lemons
2 teaspoons of fresh lavender, leaves and buds removed
2.5 oz. Mason jars
Chop lavender into small pieces. Toss the salt, lemon zest and lavender in a bowl and then spread it evenly on a baking sheet. Bake for 2 hours in a 225°F preheated oven, turning once after the first hour. Remove from the oven and break apart any clumps to achieve an even texture. Cool completely. Place salt in jars and store in a cool, dark location for up to 6 months. Top the jar with ribbon and a sprig of lavender for gifting.
