- clarified butter made from (grass fed) cow's milk
- Whole 30 compliant because the milk solids are removed
- great for cooking, it tolerates high heat
- tastes delicious
- doesn't need to be refrigerated
- is a hassle to make
Ghee is pricey compared to butter - about double the cost - expect to pay $10 - $12 for a 13 oz. jar. But the price is well worth it because I don't like making Ghee, it's a tedious task and makes a mess. However, if you'd like to make your own Ghee, here's a recipe.
I've tried a lot of different brands, and some of them have a strange indescribable funky taste. I have no idea why. My favorite brand is Organic Valley, I actually love it, even more so than full-fat butter.
If you're even the slightest bit tempted to do a Whole 30, start today, or tomorrow. Start this week. Follow along with me. We can do this!
