Cold Processed soap, which is soap made from scratch and the only kind of soap that I make, requires a minimum of 4 weeks to cure and this makes, and the demand for it is a bit of a guessing game. It became clear about 2 years ago, that unless I have at least 50 bars of the popular scents in stock and ready to ship, I was routinely running out of stock on that bar.
To correct this, I took a look at my top sellers and based upon my sales and customer feedback, I put those bars on a production schedule. Those bars are: Jasmine + Sweet Orange, Ginger Lime, French Lavender, Goats Milk, Rock Star, Lilacs In Bloom, Wisconsin Honey, Grapefruit + Marigold, Blue Skies, Brew City Tea Tree and Peppermint + Eucalyptus. These soaps are written on what I call my Big Board in my shop, and I make them when their date comes due regardless of how many cured bars are in stock.
I make new scents, new blends, and new products based upon what I think my customers will like. I make these products in smaller batches and release them as Limited Editions. Then based upon sales and feedback I decide if that product or scent will stay in production and in what quantity. As an example, Peppermint + Eucalyptus soap was a Limited Edition bar that I offered a Christmastime, 2012. It was so popular that it ended up being added to my regular line up in 2013 and is still one of my best sellers.
