The One-Minute Rule For Procrastinators Like Me

The One-Minute Rule For Procrastinators Like Me

I am a procrastinator. It's really just a bad habit and I am working on breaking it. Well, I've actually been "working on it" my whole life and truth be told I'm not so sure it's ever going to change. However, I recently came upon a suggestion, made by the author of The Happiness Project, and I implemented it last month. It's been very effective and I want to share this with you.

If a task can be done in less than one minute, just do it. I tend to make a mental note of small tasks and things that seem unworthy of my immediate time and attention. They are the little things and by putting them off, they turn into the big things. The heaps of magazines, books and papers that accumulate in piles all over my house because rather than filing them, I put them in a to-do-later pile. Emptying the dishwasher. Making my bed. Sorting through junk mail. Clearing off my kitchen island. Getting the mail from the mailbox (I have to walk across the street to get it). Using my dining room table like an extra storage surface. You get the picture and perhaps do this, too?

I challenge you to implement The One-Minute rule, try it for one week.

XO, Lisa
